JOHN was born about 1833 in Patrick Co, Virginia.1 JOHN's father was JAMES J Newman and his mother was SARAH FLIPPEN. His paternal grandfather is JAMES NEWMAN. He had four brothers and six sisters, named Joseph, George, James T, Samuel J, Francis, Mary Embezetta, Lucy A, Connie, Ruth E and Elizabeth. He was the oldest of the eleven children. He died after 1880 in Patrick Co, Virginia.1
