John was born in Charles Parish in Essex
Co., VA.  He was married twice (Elizabeth White, second wife unknown) and had 12 children.   John patented land in Farnham Parrish in Rappahannock Co., Virginia on August 7, 1679.  His will was written on October 17,1721 and probated on November 21, 1721 in Essex County, Virginia. 

Sandra Griffith of FL says on 12/5/95:
I found this in the Lib of Cong, _A revised and expanded edition of
the descendents of Jonas and Frances Meador of Essex, Caroline and
Cumberland Counties, Virginia_ by Major Perkins Nunnally, c1972


John Meador Sr, b 1650/1655 in Lancaster, later Rappahannock, later
Essex Virginia.

Married first Elizabeth White daughter of Richard White.  She died 1693/1694. 

Her children wereJohn, Jr., Richard, *Thomas*, and Hope (male), and daughters Esther,
Rachel and Elizabeth.

In 1695-1697 John married again.   From 2nd marriage were sons
Jonas (bc 1696-1700 Essex County, Virginia), Job, Joshua, Jason and daughter Mary.  

John died in Essex 1721, children in will *Thomas*, Rachel
Jordan, Elizabeth Armstrong, and Dianah Tribble. From 2nd marriage were sons
Jonas, Job, Joshua, Jason and daughter Mary.

First and principally, I commend my soul into the hands that giveth, hoping by the meritorious death and passion of my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, to receive full pardon and forgiveness of all my sins and offences, and a joyful resurrection in the last day; and my body to be decently buried at the direction of my executors hereafter named. And as for my wordly goods:
Item.      I give to my son Thomas Meador, one shilling.
Item.      I give to my daughter Rachel Jordan, one shilling.
Item.      I give to my daughter Elizabeth Armstrong, one shilling.
Item.      I give to my daughter Dinah Tribble, one shilling.
Item.      My desire is that my five sons shall keep their own guns without appraising.
Item.      I give to my daughter Mary Meador, one gold ring.
Item.      I give to my son Jonas Meador a small piece of land joining upon Thomas Evinses land and running up to the church road that goes from my house, then up a (long?) road a small course until it comes to a vale that goes to ye branch, so down the branch till it comes to the forks of the branch where it begins, and from the forks to ye first beginning. And the rest of my land I give to my other four sons, to be Equally Divided, with all my houses and orchards thereon belonging, and I do appoint my two sons Job Meador and Jason Meador my lawful Executors.
Item.      I give to my son Joshua Meador one Chest not to be appraised, and the rest of my estate to be equally divided amongst my children and leave to my youngest Sons to be of age at seventeen and I do leave my son Jonas Meador to look after them three years. And that my will not to be in force till my decease.
Witness my hand and seal the 17th. day of October, yr 1721.

Presented for probate Nov. 21, 1721, bu Jonas Meador during the miniority of the executor in the said will mentioned, with oaths by Samuel Waggoner, Francis Pierce, adn Ann Bradbury.

In the Parish of Farnham of Rappahannock County, Virginia, in the late 1600's and early 1700's, John Meador was a good citizen and family man. He spent his days raising a family, tending his tobacco crop. serving on juries, and doing other tasks as required of the Administrator of the Colony.

The following is copied from the abstract.

Pages 284-85. Will of John Meador of Essex County, being sick and weak in body, dated 17 Oct. 1721.
      To my son Thomas Meador one shilling.
      To my dather Reachell Jordan one shilling.
      To my dather Eliza Armstrong one shilling.
      To my dather Dinah Tribille one shilling.
      My five sons shall keep their one [own] guns.
      To my dather Mary Meador on gold ring.
      To my son Jonas Meador a small peice of land jneine [?] upon Thomas Evinnses land and runin up to the Curch rode that gose from my house.
The rest of my lands to my other four sons to be equly devided.
My two sons jobe Meador and Jason Meador exeectirss.
To my son Joshua Meador one Chists not to be appraised and the rest of my estaite to be equally devided amongst my children.
My two youngest sones to be at age at seavinteen. My son Jonas Meador to look after them for three years.

21 Nov. 1721. Presented in Court by Jonas Meador administrator with the will annexed (during the minority of the executor in the said will mentioned). Proved by Samuel Waggoner, Francis Peirce, and An Bradburry.


From the will of John Sr we know that Jonas was legal age in 1721, Job
and Jason were not, Jason and Joshua under 17, maybe 14 or less. 2nd wife
of John dead at this time so "two youngest sons were to become of age at 17,
and Jonas [their oldest full brother] was to "look after them for 3 years." This
established the birth of Job, Joshua, and Jason after 1704, probably 1704-1709.
