Observations .- The origin of this family is obscure. Henry T yey s, who
held Great Moulton, No rfolk, at the time of his d e ath, is menti on e d
as
dead in 1 212, and anothe r man of th e sa me name was g ranted the
ma no r of South Mi mms, Middlesex, i n 1 216. On 9 August in t h at ye ar

followe rs, and h e may have been on e of Ki ng John's mercenary capta i
ns.

to seize Henry 's lands. I n 1224 h e wa s giv en 10 mark s to help him to

Cornwall , ma rks the be ginning of a close as soc iatio n of this fami ly

Un derwood, Bucks , in lie u of t he fee of 10 per annum w hic h he was
