                                    P. J. FREDERICK

      Pius (Pierce) J. FREDERICK, former retail meat market operator in Portsmouth passed away at his home 506 Sixth street at 12:30 p.m. today.  He had been ill a long time but his condition had been serious only three days.
      Mr. FREDERICK was a native of Portsmouth.  He was born April 2, 1864, a son of Isadore and Barbara FREDERICK.  He was married here to Teresia MAIER May 5, 1904.  The wife passed away July 30, 1934.
      Of a family of five children, four survive, as follows:  Rosine F. REED of Cambridge, Mass., Marcella, August and Ursula at home.  Two brothers, Frank and Adolph of Portsmouth and a sister, Mrs. Amelia MILLER of Miami, Fla., also survive.
      Mr. FREDERICK worked in the Portsmouth steel mills years ago and later engaged in the retail meat business.  He retired from active work several years ago.
      Funeral services will be held Monday at 8:30 a.m. at St. Mary's church with Al MELCHER in charge of the burial rites.
