James W. was born about 1843 in , Grayson , Kentucky, USA.1 James W.'s father was Lewis W. Hackley and his mother was Margaret E. Wortham. His paternal grandfather is Samuel Ball Hackley; his maternal grandparents were Charles E. Wortham and Nancy Ewing. He had four brothers and five sisters, named Charles Samuel, John Thomas, Darius Clay, Joseph E., Nancy Catherine, Martha Jane, Mary Ann, Lucretia Frances and Hannah Belle. He was the oldest of the ten children. He died in Marietta, , Georgia, USA.2 General Notes

"...The children were Lewis W. (1821-1898) and Mary Elizabeth, who married Christopher BEELER. Lewis was married to Margaret WORTHAM on 23 Dec 1841, and they owned $400 worth of land in Hardin County. Lewis later married Mary E. HEYSER, then Penina WILLIAMS, but he had 10 children with Margaret.
Those children were: James, Nancy Catherine, Charles Samuel (1849 - 1933), John Thomas (1852 - 1896), Darius Clay (1854 - 1933), twins Martha Jane and Mary Ann (1857), Joseph E. (1858 or 1859), Lucretia Frances and Hannah Belle.
Research on the children shows James, a Union Soldier in the Civil War, was killed in Marietta, Ga..."
