Winton N. was born on November 5th, 1840.  Winton N.'s father was Claiborne Walker and his mother was Hester Epperson.  His maternal grandfather was Joseph Epperson and his maternal grandmother is Jane Walker. He has four brothers and five sisters, named Stokeley Donelson, Huston E., James A., Chauncey McGuire, Lucretia, Mary Emily, Martha Jane, Sarah Louisa and Hester Manerva.  He is the fifth youngest of the ten children.
