Robert Bennett was born on January 28th, 1814 in , Greene, Tennessee. Robert Bennett's father was George W. WEEMS and his mother was Nancy CARTER. His paternal grandparents were John A. WEEMS and Catherine Goodwin; his maternal grandfather was Abraham CARTER and his maternal grandmother is Rebeckah BENNETT. He had five brothers and three sisters, named Abraham, John, William, George, Thomas Norwood, Sarah, Temperance and Catherine. He was the fourth youngest of the nine children.
