Seth was born on March 13th, 1596 in Bassingbourn, Cambridge, England. Seth's father was John WARD and his mother was Mary Polle Grace Goode. His maternal grandparents are Robert Goode and Mary Tupin. He had a brother named Richard. He was the older of the two children. He died at the age of 86 in 1682 in Sheffield, Varina, Henrico, VA.General Notes

I have been researching Seth Ward, Immigrant to Henrico County, VA, for many years now. I have never found any hard that Seth (1595-1682) is the son of Captain John Warde & his wife, Grace. I have seen nothing to indicate any evidence that Mrs. Grace Ward is the son of Mary Polle Grace Goode. Many have posted data without proof.
SETH WARD of Henrico is possibly brother of CAPTAIN JOHN WARDE of early Virginia as described in a will found in the Prerogative Court of Canterbury, 51 Lewyn, written on February 14th, 1598 by SETH WARD of Abbington, Cambridgeshire, England, yeoman, proved June 20th 1598 by JOHN WARDE. SETH WARD named in his will his wife, ANNIS/ANNE; sons, JOHN WARDE, ENOS WARDE, and THOMAS WARDE; Daughters MARIE WARDE and ANNE JACOB; Grandchildren JOHN WARDE and SETH WARDE, sons of testator's son JOHN WARDE; Brother ROBERT WARD; Sister WILSONNE; Grandchildren ANNE WARD (daughter of JOHN WARDE), MARTHA WARD, ALICE WARD and MARIE WARD. The testator, SETH WARD, owned lands in Litlington and Stephen Norden, Cambridgeshire. He made bequests to JOHN WARDE "the sonne of my said sonne JOHN WARDE tenn pounds of lawfull English monie to be paid unto him at the age of one and twentie yeares; also I give unto SETH WARD, his brother, the somme of tenn pounds of like lawfull English monie to be paide unto him at the age of one and twentie yeares." Note that Seth Ward was in Henrico County, Virginia no later than February 11, 1632 when he was granted a lease for 21 years in the upper parts of Henrico County near old Henricus as the property line was Powhatan's Tree; Henricus was destroyed in 1622 by the Indians & went unoccupied for many years while the Virginia Company regrouped.
There is no will record for Captain John Warde to incidate he left his land to Seth Ward, who would have been his natural heir, if he were his son. The lands that belonged to Seth Ward are much further up the James River, near present Drewry's Bluff & the old city of Henricus than the property of Captain John Warde which is in Surrey County, with signs denoting its location.

Seth and Katherine were married in a religious ceremony in 1636 in Bassingbourn, Cambridge, England. They had two sons and two daughters, named Richard, Seath Or Seth, Mary and Rebecca.
