Henry Bond in HISTORY OF WATERTOWN states that Abraham wasadmitted freeman on Mar 9 1636-7 and proprietor at the same time. Hishouse was burned in Oct 1636 and shortly moved to Dedham where he was oneof the first subscribers of the Covenant. His inventory was dated 1638.His will had no date, mentioned no wife, but did son John and daughterMartha," being infants"; also son Joseph and daughter Mary and "my lot atDedham". THE PIONEERS OF MASSACHUSETTS, Nicholas, Weymouth, son-in-law ofAbraham Shaw of Dedham. Sold house and privileges in W. 2 (10) 1640.Bought house and lands 5 (8) 1647. He d. April 13, 1688; will prob. June13 folg.; ratified tohis bro. John Shaw of Wey. certain land, and toeach of his children what he had formerly given them. Rest to wifeSusanna. [Gen. Adv. I, 20.] Pope states that Abraham was called in his will "sometime of Halifaxin Co. York, clothierof Dedham, NE, planter." He was made freeman 9 Mar1636, and that he came first to Watertown, where he was propr., in 1636.In Dedham he was constable in 1638. He rem. to Cambridge where he wastown officer in 1640. He had a grant of coal andiron stone, disposing 2Nov 1637. He was given liberty to erect a corn mill on Feb 12, 1636-7.Will made in 1640. Eldest son Joseph, ch. Mary, John and Martha, the lasttwo infants. John and Joseph to have Denham lot. Mr Edward Allen admin.Nicholas Biram was his son-in-law. Abraham SHAW was the son of Thomas and Elizabeth Shaw. He was b. 14 November 1585 in Northowram. On 24 June 1616, Abraham m. Elizabeth("Bridget") BEST in Halifax, Yorkshire Co., England. Elizabeth was b.April 1592 in Ovendon, Halifax, Yorkshire Co. Her father was Henry BESTof Ovendon. Abraham was a clothier.
