Claertje was born about 1750 in Claverack, Columbia, Ny. Claertje's father was Abraham SPOOR and her mother was Gesia (Geesje,Gesche,Gesje) BRESIE (BRUSSIE). She had three brothers and seven sisters, named Johannes, Niclaes, Isaac, Catalyntje, Mary (Maria, Marya), Christina, Sara Or Sarah, Johanna, Hannah and Rebecca. She is the second youngest of the eleven children.
