Meriwether was born about 1726 in Va.. Meriwether's father was James Skelton and his mother was Jane Meriwether. His maternal grandfather was Francis MERRIWETHER and his maternal grandmother is Mary BATHURST. He had three brothers and two sisters, named Reuben, Bathurst, Bathurst, Lucy and Sarah.
