John was born in 1665 in Oxton, Nottingham, England.  John's father was Francis SCOTHORNE and his mother was Marie UNKNOWN. He had three brothers and a sister, named Robert, Francis Jr, Thomas and Sarah.  He is the third oldest of the five children.
