- John was a London blacksmith, whitesmith and coatsmith. He was a member
of thePeel MM of Friends, 65/67 St. John's St., London.
- On 4 July 1682, John bought 250 acres of land from William Penn. This
land located in Longhorne, Middletown TWP., Bucks Co., PA.
- In October 1682 John, and his son John, arrivedin America on the ship
"Welcome".
- In 1684 John returned to England to gethis wife, Sara Ashby, but she
was not Quaker and would not go with him. Thepersecution of Quakers had
declined so John did not return to America.
- On15 Oct. 1696 he gave his son, John, power of attorney to manage his
land inPennsylvania. William Penn witnessed this document and his Will,
also dated 15 Oct 1696.

- Came to America in 1682 with son John. Returnedto England in 1784 to
get his wife, but she was not Quaker and would not leave England. John
bought 250 acres of land from William Penn. This land located in
Langhorne, Bucks Co., PA. John did not return to America either afterhe
left in 1684. William Penn witnessed his will. He gave son John power
of attorney. He was a Blacksmith, Whitesmith and Coachmaker. He came
over on the ship WELCOME, the 19th to reach the shore of the Americas.

He followed the same trade as his father, William Scarborough, and lived
in the same Parish of St. Sepulcher and belonged to the same Peel's
Monthly Meeting of Friends, where as early as 1677 he is referred to as a
Member.
