Maud was born about 1136 in Topcliffe, Yorkshire, England. Maud's father was William De PERCY and her mother was Alice (Adeliza) De TUNBRIDGE (CLARE). Her maternal grandparents were Richard De CLARE and Alice (Adeliza) De MESCHINES. She had four brothers and three sisters, named Walter De, Alan De, Richard De, William De, Agnes De, Alice and Emma. She was the third youngest of the eight children. She had four half-brothers named Gruffudd Ap, Cunedda Ap, Randwlff Ap and Richard Ap. She died in 1203.
