Joseph Monroe was born on August 22nd, 1873 in ,Kanawha,W. Virginia. Joseph Monroe's father was Henry Clay Miller and his mother is Elizabeth Jane Stogdon. His paternal grandfather was Joseph H. Miller and his paternal grandmother is Rebecca Fisher. He had two brothers and seven sisters, named Charles Sammy, Henry Sanford, Rebecca, Laura Ann, Leila Bell, Lenora "Nora", Virgie, Angeline and Della Ethel. He was the fourth oldest of the ten children. He died at the age of 73 on February 15th, 1947 in ,Kanawha,W. Virginia.-
