Elizabeth Jane was born on December 21st, 1816 in Lancaster, Garrard, Kentucky. Elizabeth Jane's father was David Logan McKee and her mother is Elizabeth Brown Letcher. Her paternal grandparents were William McKee and Miriam MCKEE. She had five brothers and five sisters, named Samuel F., William, Alexander R, Robert, Perkins Letcher, Miriam, Ann, Matilda, Nancy and Patsy.
