Richard Edward was born in 1894 in Rosencranz, Clinton, Pa. Richard Edward's father was Josiah MATTER and his mother was Emma C BAY. His paternal grandparents were Adam MATTER and Sarah "Sally" DUPPENDORF. He had seven brothers and two sisters, named Mahlon Madison, Lester Atwood, John Wesley, William Henry, Ralland Allen, Harry Winslow, Milton Turban, Vernie Angevine and Lairie Ann. He was the youngest of the ten children. He died at the age of 3 in 1897.General Notes
