John Matthias was born on February 11th, 1737 in , Berks, Pa.. John Matthias' father was Hans John Jacobus LINK and his mother was Anna Magdalena NEUWIRTH. His paternal grandfather was Hans Bernard LINK and his paternal grandmother is Anna Catharina SCHUMAN; his maternal grandfather was Jeremias NEUWIRTH and his maternal grandmother is Margareta Christ. He had two brothers and three sisters, named John Adam, John Jacob, Rosina Elizabeth, Maria Katharine and Anna Maria Magdalena. He was the youngest of the six children. He died at the age of 77 on February 8th, 1815 in , Augusta, Virginia. He was buried in Fort Defiance, Augusta, Virginia.General Notes
