Richard was born before 1537 in Llangatock Crickhowell, Brecknockshire, Wales. Richard's father is Thomas LEWIS and his mother is Maude Turberville. His paternal grandparents are John Thomas and Margery verch John; his maternal grandfather is John Turberville. He was an only child. He died in 1628 in Llangatock Crickhowell, Brecknockshire, Wales.
‌Richard and Nest Verch were married in a religious ceremony in 1569. They had a son named Richard Ryckett.
