Samuel Marion was born on January 8th, 1840 in Payson, Adams, Il. Samuel Marion's father was Francis LEE and his mother was Jane Vail JOHNSON. His paternal grandparents were Samuel Chaffings LEE and Elizabeth GILLUM OR GILHAM; his maternal grandparents were Jacob JOHNSON and Mary Elizabeth EDWARDS. He had seven brothers and four sisters, named William Henry, John Nelson, George Washington, Francis Columbus, Jacob Edward, Milton Lafayette, Arthur Orson, Electa Jane, Mary Eliza, Louisa Juliette and Sally. He was the third oldest of the twelve children. He died at the age of 50 on January 27th, 1890 in Panaca, Lincoln, Nv.
