Phillis was born in 1585 in , Over Wallop, Hampshire, England. Phillis' father was Thomas KENT and her mother is Ellen PILE PYLE. Her paternal grandfather was Richard KENT and her paternal grandmother is Mrs. Elizabeth KENT; her maternal grandfather was Richard PYLE and her maternal grandmother is Unknown UNKNOWN. She had seven brothers and four sisters, named Phillip, Phillis, Richard, Thomas, David, John, Stephen, Phillis, Joan Joanna, Martha and Mary. She was the second oldest of the twelve children.
