John H. was born on December 10th, 1824 in Paris, Bourbon, KY. John H.'s father was Reuben Lee Hutchcraft and his mother was Frances Hedges. His paternal grandfather was Thomas Hutchcraft and his paternal grandmother is Nellie Harrison Apperson. He had five brothers and four sisters, named Thomas A., Silas H., William Luther, Henry Clay, Reuben Brent, Sr., Lucinda, Mary Eliza, Eleanor Apperson and Nancy Coff. He was the oldest of the ten children. He died at the age of 64 on May 3rd, 1889 in Sherman, Grayson, TX .General Notes
