Her paternal grandparents were John Smith HUFFMAN and Suzanne AMENT; her maternal grandparents are William PERRIN and Dicea KERBY. She had a brother and eight sisters, named William Gunn, Laura Cathrine, Sue E, John Ellen, Ella, Mary Amanda, Carrie Liter, Martha Rebecca Means and Lula Etta Frances.
