Catherine was born in 1597 in Ripple Court,Kent,England.1 Catherine's father was Thomas Gookin and her mother was Margarette Jane Thurston. Her paternal grandparents were John GOOKING and Katherine DENNE; her maternal grandparents are Richard THURSTON and Richard THURSTON. She had two brothers and five sisters, named John, Thomas, Mary, Ann, Mary, Elizabeth and Margaret. She was the oldest of the eight children.1 General Notes
