Thomas was born on September 13th, 1653 in Dorchester, Oxford, Engl. Thomas' father was Thomas GILPIN and his mother was Joane BARTHOLOMEW. His paternal grandparents were Thomas Sr GILPIN and Dorothy GIBSON; his maternal grandfather was Thomas BARTHOLOMEW and his maternal grandmother is Mrs-Thomas BARTHOLOMEW. He had three brothers and four sisters, named Isaac, Joseph, Richard, Mary, Sarah, Rachel Ann and Ann. He was the second oldest of the eight children.
