John was born about 1394 in Of, Lasingcroft, Yorkshire, England. John's father was Nicholas GASCOIGNE and his mother is Mary De CLITHEROE. His paternal grandfather was William GASCOIGNE and his paternal grandmother is (Margaret) Agnes FRANKE. He had two brothers and two sisters, named Nicholas, Thomas, Elizabeth and Margaret.
