His paternal grandfather was James Fore and his paternal grandmother is Sarah Elizabeth HURT; his maternal grandparents are Joel Mann and Kitty Black. He had three brothers and five sisters, named Joel J., Charles Robert, Edward H., Sarah J., Margaret Emily, Rachel Rebecca, Arrilla and Martha E.. He is the fifth oldest of the nine children.-
