Robert was born about 1128 in Bristol, Gloucestershire, Eng. Robert's father was Robert Caen and his mother was Maud Fitzhamon. His paternal grandfather was Henry Beauclerc and his paternal grandmother is Sibyl Corbet; his maternal grandparents are Robert Fitzhamon and Sybil Montgomerey.
