alfoley@@gte.net> ID: I027 Name: May Louise CURRY Sex: F Birth: 1 MAY 1884 in Eliga,Texas Death: 22 JAN 1964 in Eastland, Texas Note: May Louise Curry was born on the first day of May so her mother and father named her May. She was a sweet, unselfish lady. She was 5'2" inches tall, had blue eyes and brown hair. Her hair was long, barely below her waist, and she braided it into a long braid, then wound it around her head, and pinned it up in the back with a long hairpin. She had a nice figure when she was young. She had an infectious laugh. She had an easy disposition, and was well liked. She loved her family; she went to church as often as possible. Her first child, a boy was born dead. When another couple lost a baby, she was one of the first people to visit. She made clothes for the dead baby, and her husband built a small box for the baby. They would hitch up the team and go to the neighbors house with food and preparations for the baby. The community of Pioneer, Texas remembered, and when May and when Robert died they dug the graves themselves. Another child, Rossie, died when she was 3 months old from Bronchitis. May took her greatest delight in her children and grandchildren. My children were the only great grandchildren that she saw in this world. She cooked many meals in a hot or cold kitchen. She loved flowers. Friends brought her many seeds and plants. She had a big flower garden, but she did not buy any of the seeds. She worked hard most of her life. Robert was not well after about age 40. She and her children grew vegetable gardens and raised chickens for eggs and for Sunday eating and cows for milking.
