Joel Chitwood 
Joel was born in 1750 in Bedford City,Virginia. Joel's father was John CHETWOOD and his mother is Elizabeth TILLOTSON. His paternal grandfather was Matthias CHITWOOD (MATTHIS) and his paternal grandmother is Mary KEY. He had four brothers and a sister, named William, John, Ellis, Claiborn and Ann. He was the oldest of the six children. He died at the age of 70 in 1820 in Lincoln,Lincoln Co.,Tennessee.General Notes
