Mabel De was born in 1171 in <, Chester, Cheshire, England>.1 Mabel De's father was Hugh de Kevelioc and her mother was Bertrade d'Évreux. Her paternal grandparents were Ranulph IV de Meschin de Gernon and Maud de Fitzrobert; her maternal grandfather was Simon le Chauve and her maternal grandmother is Maud d'Évreux. She had a brother and five sisters, named Ranulph de, Beatrix de, Amicia de Kevelioc de, Mabel de, Agnes de and Hawise de. She was the third oldest of the seven children.
