Mary was born on October 10th, 1719 in Hockessin, New Castle, De. Mary's father was William COX and her mother was Catherina KINKEY. Her paternal grandparents were John COX and Rachel EMBREE CARR; her maternal grandparents are Harmon KINKEY and Margery KANKEY(KINKEY). She had five brothers and four sisters, named Harmon, William, John, Soloman, Thomas, Rebecca, Martha, Margarey and Catherine. She was the second oldest of the ten children.
