Eleanor De was born about 1261 in Of, Okehampton, Devonshire, England.  Eleanor De's father was Hugh De COURTENAY and her mother was Eleanor Le DESPENCER.  Her paternal grandparents were John De COURTENAY and Isabel De VERE; her maternal grandparents were Hugh Le DESPENCER and Aliva(Alice) BASSETT. She had five brothers and five sisters, named Hugh De, Philip De, Thomas De, John De, Robert De, Aveline De, Margaret De, Egeline, Isabel De and Alice De.  She is the oldest of the eleven children.
