John was born in 1533.  John's father was Richard Branch and his mother was Elizabeth BEAUFOREST.  His paternal grandfather was John BRANCH BRAUNCHE; his maternal grandparents are Thomas Beauforest and Margaret Bassett. He had three brothers and four sisters, named William, Thomas, John, Amy, Mary, Margery and Marion.  He is the third oldest of the eight children.
