Margaret was born in 1792 in Stewarton, Stewarton, Ayrshire, Scotland. Margaret's father was John BROWNING and her mother was Jean (Jane) PICKIN. Her paternal grandparents are Archibald BROWNING and Agnes MORTON; her maternal grandparents were Alexander PICKEN and Jean WATSON. She had three brothers and five sisters, and also two siblings of unknown gender, named George, John, John, Jean, Janet, Mary, Martha, Mary, Marion and UNKNOWN.
