Gilberd was born in 0982.¹ Gilberd's father was Touroude (Torulf) De Pontaudemer and his mother was Awelina De Crepon. His paternal grandparents were Torf De Harcourt and Ertemburga De Brioquibec; his maternal grandparents were Herbastus Haraldblaatand De Crepon and Cynthia De Crepon. He had five brothers and two sisters, named Humphrey, Herbrand, Richard, Ilbert, Anchetile, Josseline and Ingaretha. He was the third oldest of the eight children. He had two half-brothers and a half-sister, named Osbern, Godfrey and Daughter Of Osbern.¹
