Grietjen Hendricks was born in 1640 in New Amsterdam, NY and her baptism took place on October 19th, 1642 in Kingston, NY.1 Grietjen Hendricks' father was Hendrick Janse Westecamp and her mother was Femmetje Alberts. Grietjen was married briefly before marrying Jan.
Her 1st husband was Pieter Jacobsen, they had one son to-
gether:Pieter Jr. who was baptized in 1662, in Kingston.
Pieter Sr. died in 1664. There is a story that
that
Grietjen was once captured by Indians for a short time in
1663. In one at least one place Westercamp is
West-
ecamp. The Af has it spelled Westercamp, so that is the
spelling being used.
‌Grietjen Hendricks and Jan Gerritsen were married in a religious ceremony in Kingston, Ulster, NY.1 They had two sons named Gerrit Jansen and Harmanus.
