Helen WILLEMS
Services for Helen WILLEMS, 93, Good Samaritan Village, Mountain Lake, were held Monday afternoon, Dec. 14, in the Mennonite Brethren Church, Mt. Lake.
Interment was in Carson Mennonite Brethren Church Cemetery, Delft.
The Rev. Roger Engbrecht, pastor of the Mennonite Brethren, Mountain Lake, served as officiant at the services.
Mrs. WILLEMS died Thursday, Dec. 10, in the Good Samaritan Village. She was born in South Russia on Nov. 29, 1894, the daughter of Martin and Helena (RATZLAFF) WANNOW and received her education in a country school, after coming to the United States with her parents in 1905. They settled in Carson Township, Cottonwood County, near Bingham Lake.
On Oct. 31, 1916, she married Henry WILLEMS in Carson Township.
After their marriage, they farmed near Delft and later moved into Delft., where Mr. WILLEMS operated a cream station. After a number of years, they moved back to a farm near Delft. They later returned to live in Delft and operated a dairy business.
Mr. WILLEMS died on March 25, 1947.
For about a year, Mrs. WILLEMS lived with her daughter Olga and Albert REGEHR, until 1949, when she moved into Mt. Lake.
On Feb. 4, 1983, Mrs. WILLEMS became a resident of the
Good Samaritan Village.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Menno and Alice WILLEMS, Maple Lake; one daughter and son-in-law, Olga and Albert REGEHR, Minneapolis; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and two sisters, Agnes ANDERSON and Anna ADAM, both of Minneapolis.
Her parents, husband, one brother and two sisters preceded her in
death.
Serving as casket bearers at the service were Karl Duemke, Edward Quiring, Alvin Quiring, Dr. Jerome Fluth, Herman Peters and John C. Wiens
