William "Chivaler" de Stanley 
William "Chivaler" de was born about 1368.1 William "Chivaler" de's father was William IV Stanley and his mother was Alicia de Hoghton. His paternal grandparents were William Stanley and Mary Savage; his maternal grandparents were Sir Richard de Hoghton and Margaret. He had a brother named Thomas. He died after 1403.1 General Notes

Cokayne's "Complete Peerage" (Stanley, p.248, note a), discusses the "Wirral", or senior, branch of the Stanley family. This William is not an ancestor, but I include him in this genealogy because there are so many William and John Stanleys flourishing during this time. Including them all, I hope, will help reduce the confusion facing researchers.
In the main text of his account, Cokayne mentions that in 1403 this William forfeited his lands to his uncle, JOHN DE STANLEY (RIN 4175),
for participation in the revolt of Henry Percy.
