Hring was born about 0947 in <, , , Denmark>.¹ Hring's father was Herbastus De Crepon and his mother was Gunhild Von Denmark. His paternal grandparents were Gorm "the Old" Knudsson and Thyre "Danebod" Unknown. He had two brothers and three sisters, named Svend I "Tveskaeg" "Forked Beard", Herbastus de, Gonnor De, Wavie and Gunhild. He was the third youngest of the six children.
