Philip was born about 1477.1 Philip's father was John Josselyn and his mother was Anne Lavenham. His paternal grandparents were Geoffrey Josselyn and Katherine LeBraye; his maternal grandparents were John Lavenham and Mary De Gatesbury. He had three brothers named Edward, Ralfe and Geoffrey.
