He had eight brothers and seven sisters, named Athelstan Prince Of, Egbert Prince Of, II, Edred Prince Of, Edwig Prince Of, Edward Prince Of, Edgar Prince Of, Ingelric Of, Elfgifu Princess Of, Elgiva Alfgifu Princess, Edith Princess Of, Wulfhild Princess Of, Miss, Aethelreda Princess Of and Mississippi Princess Of. He had a half-sister named Goda Godgifu Princess Of. He died at the age of 27 on November 30th, 1016 in London, Middlesex, England. EDMUND II, son of AETHELRED II and EDGIVA, was King of the English (1016), son of AEthelred the Unready. He was prominent in the fighting against Canute. On AEthelred's death, Edmund was proclaimed
king although Canute received the support of over
half of England. After the battle of Assandun (Oct 18, 1016), he and Canute came to terms and partitioned England, but Edmund died the next month. His courage earned him the name Ironside. -
