Garcia Iniguez of Navarra - COMYNI.GED (Compuserve), #1414; Garcia Inhegez,
King of Navarra, King of Aragon(?) - SPAIN.TAF (Compuserve); Royalty for Commo
ners, Roderick W. Stuart, p. 55 says mother was Oneca - NLP; King of Pamplona
(852-882) - Royalty for Commoners, Roderick W. Stuart, p. 55
GARCIA INIGUEZ, son of INIGO ARISTA and ONECA
There seems to be some confusion about who this Garia Iniguez is. Royalty for
Commoners, Roderick W. Stuart, p. 55 which seems to follow the line I have
from Compuserve from Garcia on back shows the line as follows:
42. Jimeno
41. Inigo Jiminez md (1) N.N.; md (2) N.N. (mother of Gen. 40), widow
of Musa Ibn Fortun, Chief of the Banu Qasi family.
40. Inigo Iniguez Arista, King of Pamplona (822-852), a Basque
leader; b. c790; d. 851/852; md Oneca. NOTE: Being a Basque
leader seems to imply that he was a Moslem. This line needs
further study.
39. Garcia I Iniguez, King of Pamplona (852-882); b. c810; d. 882; md
(1) Urraca (mother of Gen. 38); md (2) Leogundis, Infanta of
Asturia; dau of Ordono I ... King of the Asturias.
38. Jimena Garces, d. by 912; md 869/870, Alfonso III, King of
Asturias.
Royalty for Commoners, Roderick W. Stuart, p. 163 agrees with what I have from
Compuserve from Garicia on forward. The line from Stuart is as follows:
44. Jimeno.
43. Garcia Jiminez
42. Jimeno Garcia
41. Garcia II Jiminez (Inigo Arista), King of Navarre (Pamplona),
c880; b. c845; liv 890; md (1) 860, Oneca Rebelle de Sanguesa;
md (2) 884, Dadildis de Pallars (mother of Gen. 40); dau Lope I,
Count of Bigorre
40. Sancho I Garces "Optimo Imperator," King of Navarre (Pamplona),
905-925; b. c885; d. 11 Dec 925; md (2) Toda (Tota) Aznarez de
Larron (mother of Gen. 39; md (2) Urraca Galindez, dau Aznar II
Galindez.
39. Garcia III Sanchez ... etc.
It would seem that there must be some connection between these two lines. If
the above is correct then either Garcia I and Garcia II were brothers and
Compuserve is wrong by only showing one entry for all; or the dates for one of
the Garcias is wrong and they are actually the same person. I have set up two
Garcias (Garcia I Iniguez and Garcia II Jiminez) as half brothers. Since
Royalty for Commoners, Roderick W. Stuart, p. 55 showed the mother of Garcia I
Iniguez as Oneca, I am making her his mother and making the mother of Garcia
II Jiminez as Theida de Viscaya. Obviously, this line needs some more
research - NLP
