He lived during the reign of Richard II (1377-1399). He was a prominent maker of woolen cloth. He officiated at a jury at Halifax Turn in 1451. He may have been somewhat of a rogue, as he was charged with playing unlawful games on a Sunday and fined for making a helpale. His wife was supposedly fined for brewing bad ale.
