Robert de was born about 1036 in Argyle, Scotland.1 Robert de's father was Ragnvald Rognvald II Brusesson and his mother was Arlogia Countess of Orkney. His paternal grandparents were Brusi Brusee Sigurdsson and Ostrida Regenwaldsdatter; his maternal grandfather was Waldemar Duke of Russia. He had a brother and two sisters, named Waldemar of, Hamiliana of and Arlogia of. He was the second oldest of the four children. He died in 1098.1 General Notes
