Hugh III was born in 1288 in Rydal,Westmoreland,England.  Hugh III's father was Hugh De Lowther and his mother was Margaret Moriceby.  His paternal grandfather was Hugh De Lowther.  He was an only child.  He died at the age of 77 in 1365.
