Joan was born in 1191 in Dudley,Worcester,England. Joan's father was Ralph De Somery and her mother was Margaret Mareschal. Her paternal grandparents were John De Someri and Hawise De Paynel; her maternal grandparents were John "The Marshall" Fitzgilbert and Sybil d'Evereaux. She had a brother named Ralph II. She was the younger of the two children. She died at the age of 85 in 1276.-
