Elizabeth was born in 1660 in , , , Eng.. Elizabeth's father was Daniel READ and her mother was Elizabeth IDE. Her maternal grandfather was Timothy IDE. She had six brothers and four sisters, named Daniel, Noah, Samuel, Daniel, Benjamin, Ebenezer, Elizabeth, Abigail, Rachel and Thankful. She was the oldest of the eleven children.
