Ambrose Powell 
Ambrose was born in 1756 in Burke County, North Carolina. Ambrose's father was Elias Powell and his mother was Elizabeth Blair. His paternal grandparents were John Powell and Mary O'Neal. He had twelve brothers and six sisters, named Elias, George, Robert, Philip, William, James, Benjamin, Thomas, Elijah, Lewis, Peter, John, Elizabeth, Mary, Margaret, Rachel, Catherine and Sarah. He was the tenth oldest of the nineteen children. He died at the age of 71 in October 1827 in Maury, Tennesee.-
