Elizabeth was born about 1430 in Clifton, Runcorn, Cheshire, England.  Elizabeth's father was John III Savage and her mother was Eleanor De Brereton. She had a brother and seven sisters, named John IV, Margaret, Jane, Eleanor, Ellen, Ann, Katherine and Dulcia Alice.  She was the fourth oldest of the nine children.
